The Filipino Australian

Let the Filipino spirit fly

Mabuhay!

I am very happy to announce the launching of The Filipino Australian.

The Filipino Australian is the latest addition to our group of websites. It succeeds the News section of emanila.com to focus on the Filipinos in Australia, the Filipino Australian community, and Australian events and major points of interest with impact on the multicultural groups in Australia.

We will formally open The Filipino Australian on June 12, 2005 which marks the 107th year of Philippine Independence.

Jaime K. Pimentel, an experienced newspaperman and editor, will join us as Editor of The Filipino Australian. The URL of the news site is www.thefilipinoaustralian.com (and www.thefilipinoaustralian.com.au).

Over the last seven years that emanila.com has been online, we at emanila.com have witnessed the increased activity of Filipino Australians in mainstream Australia - in the government, in business, in education, in recreation and entertainment, and in politics. In our own humble way, we have reported these events as they occurred. And we have raised our voices through commentaries where necessary.

With The Filipino Australian, we will continue with our philosophy:

> To report, and comment where required, on the day's events

> To join the community in celebrating Philippine culture and heritage, and the accomplishments of our kababayans

> To provide a talking point and a forum where views and ideas can be shared and exchanged.

The task of promoting the Filipino Australian community to a dominant position in multicultural Australia is not easy. But it can be done. With assets that we, Filipino Australians, already possess --- world-class skills and expertise, creativity, resourcefulness, and industry--- all that we need is to work together, trust each other and help enhance each other's potentials. Let the Filipino spirit fly, let it compete effectively, and let it flourish in the wider and global community.

Mabuhay ang Pilipinas sa pagsapit ng ika-107 taon ng kaniyang Kalayaan. Mabuhay ang sambayanang Filipino!
