I have often been suspicious of, even disliked, award presentations. Especially those awards by politicians. But these NSW Premier’s Awards were so blatantly patronising to our Filipino community it made me puke.
How could an intelligent community like ours be conned into taking part in these awards?
Not only were the awards clearly a political gambit by a desperate political party to win votes at the State elections only weeks away, the manner in which they were carried out was nothing short of farcical.
The umbrella organisation supposedly given the task of naming award-winners unashamedly presented itself as one of the awardees.
And for what, you ask?
For keeping the community united in harmony, the award said, or words to that effect. United in harmony?
Somebody forgot to tell the Premier about the little wars against another umbrella, and that this award-winning organisation has, in fact, continued to fan the fires of animosity between the warring parties.
I had supported the decision of my school alumni association to join this umbrella a few years ago, against the will of some of my alumni colleagues. I have also voted Labor at many elections. That is why I feel angry about these Premier Awards. They mean nothing. They’re buying our votes cheaply. Yet they are doing damage to the integrity of our Filipino community in NSW.
If the State politicians are listening: Not happy, mate.

Oh my……as expected….There have been a few community rumblings ….. about all the winners….But as always, Mr. Pimentel had his facts wrong…. The PCC did not name awarded nor did they nominate….And the other group is not an umbrella…
Reply to Allan..? where are you from PCC?
Please be advised that the other group does not call themselves a peak or umbrella body that title PCC-NSW has trademarked for themselves to use only, although one can see their star is waning. Please do not judge until you come down from your throne and check the real facts in the real world, mate. Sorry but like Jaime one can puke at all this bad name to those who seek the goodwill of others. Jaime is correct not wrong.
Richard, first I am an observer from a distant and do not belong to any group. You err in the first instance. But you assumed correctly in the second – I look at you from my throne and I have no intention to go to your level. Like all others that you like and despise, you only operate in a small square – hopeless. Rather than be in a menial job or unemployed, get a REAL JOB – or if you have capital, form a worthwhile business and employ Filos. There – you will make a difference. You will find that you will be less pitifully sensitive (“Balat Sibuyas” – really sad) and can take constructive criticism, then I will let you sit beside my throne and perhaps chat with you briefly. Adieu
Allan ~ or is it really Allana? ~ if you tell us who sent the nominations and decided on the Filipino Premier’s Awards, then maybe your words would have some credibility. Maybe more cred if you tell us who (male or female) you are. Even further cred if you show us where you get your information from when, as you say, you are ”an observer from a distant”. By the way, where did you get your ”throne”?
Your serf “Richard” can educate you – refer to his comment “Please do not judge until you come down from your throne.” I do not dwell in small talks in the serfdom environment nor do I attempt to educate commoners. Just talk to the hands – your question does not deserve an answer. Fare thee well.
Allan,
That is where you and I differ, I do not sit on a high throne but walk with the common man, those who deserve to be treated with respect, in my work amongst the filo community and others I do not need to sit on a throne and be a snob but sit with all people deserving of my time, those whom mpeople like you cannot touch or reach because you are so full of yourself. Serf hmm, I once worked for the Government, and now work for myself serving people using my time to help others, so what do you do vassal.
Allan,
If you are an observer from a distance maybe you are so far you cannot see the truth, I am not naive mate, I know PCC-NSW and its tactics, to say again APCO does not call itself an umrella it is there to serve not like the other who needs them to serve them or they cannot survive. I can take criticism, I have always from ignorant people like you, people who sit on thrones and cannot see the real world as they only mix with those who are like them, so what I serve others proudly, as Jesus said , I have come to serve not to be served. It is an honour to serve my fellow man, no reward needed just knowing that someone is happy and a bit better because i cared about them is all that matters to me. Be careful Allan for the Lord judges those who seek wrong for others and not their good.
Serf hahaha, at least I can have more fun than you.
I agree with Jaime Pimentel. The ALP did similar things in the Indian community with Virginia Judge donning sari and performing “namaste” at public community functions. Sadly the Indian and other ethnic community lap up these charades without questioning. The reality is the ALP do not care about the progress or recognition of any ethnic community – I can say this from the bitter experience of blowing the whistle on malpractices in RailCorp and suffering the consequences.
Just goes to show the level that the ALP members will stoop to conquer the ethnic votes.
